Alleged Migos takeoff killer formally charged with murder

A Harris County, Texas grand jury has formally indicted Patrick Xavier Clark, who was arrested in connection with Takeoff’s death last year.

Last December, a man named Patrick Xavier Clark was arrested for the murder of rapper Migos Takeoff, who was shot and killed on November 1 in Houston, Texas. Now Clark has been officially charged with murder, TMZ reports and Pitchfork can confirm. Clark was indicted by a Texas grand jury Thursday, May 25, according to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Following his arrest, Clark was released on $1 million bail in early January. According to an Associated Press report at the time, Clark’s family had tried to lower his bond to $300,000, saying in court that they could pay nothing more. Clark’s attorney said his client had a “valid and meritorious claim of self-defense,” according to The Associated Press.

Takeoff was playing dice at a Houston bowling alley on Nov. 1, 2022, when gunfire broke out, as reported by TMZ and local media at the time. His death was officially ruled a homicide due to the nature of his gunshot wounds. Takeoff was 28.
